The management of the University of Lagos on Thursday beefed up security at the school entrance ahead of the planned protest by student leaders over the recent hike in tuition fees. Sources told SaharaReporters on Thursday that the school management stationed security personnel at the entrance to check in students. One of the sources said, “So for the protest today, the three – UNILAG, the management and the security – are checking people in. They will ask you, what is your business here? What are you doing? Even those who tendered ID cards; some of them were sent back.
The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) will on Thursday meet with the representatives of the protesting students of the university and the representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on the protracted case of school fee increment. Following the increment in tuition fees by the school management, students have been protesting and demanding a reversal.
