Subscriber only A Coast woman has been warned she is on the road to jail after using bolt cutters to pinch a mountain bike for extra cash, a court has heard. The Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard Nicole Elizabeth Grant used bolt cutters to remove a chain securing a GIANT Mountain Bike at a Kawana shopping centre in Buddina on October 1. Police prosecutor Stuart Lydford said Grant sold the bike to cash converters for $150 the following day. Sergeant Lydford said Grant was arrested on March 1 when she admitted to taking the bike, which she thought belonged to an associate, who owed her money.

A Coast man was found with a 40cm samurai sword-like knife just months before he inflicted “ghastly” injuries when he stabbed a friend in the face and leg.
Quinn Daoud was sentenced to 10 months in prison on Thursday after he pleaded guilty in Maroochydore District Court to 26 charges including three counts of possessing a knife, four counts of driving without a license and one count of unlawfully entering a vehicle to commit and indictable offence.
It comes after Daoud was sentenced to three years in prison on February 2 for one count of unlawful wounding another person on July 13 last year.

‘Disgraced’ dad jailed for high on ice police chase
A father who led police on a wild chase across the Coast was armed and high on ice.
Gary Anthony Barker, then 38, was jailed for more than three years in June last year, after pleading guilty to 10 charges including dangerously operating a vehicle while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.
The defendant was swearing and making threats to passers-by, he said. An informant walking her dog reported the male made some threats to kill her dog and was following her, causing fear. Mackie told the court some alcohol was involved in his offending. He said he suffered from schizophrenia. The Moffat Beach resident pleaded guilty in Caloundra Magistrates Court on Wednesday to one count of public nuisance, contravene a direction, obstructing police and wilful exposure. Sergeant Lydford said Mackie had a 10-page criminal history of similar offences and suggested a suspended sentence as an appropriate punishment. Your honour could consider something hanging over his head to deter him, he said.
