A man who claimed his three-year-old son purchased a knife set for him has lost the knives after police found them under his driverâs seat.
Christopher Andrew Crockett pleaded guilty on April 19 in Rockhampton Magistrates Court to one count of possessing a knife in a public place.
Police prosecutor Clancy Fox said police intercepted Crockett driving on Murray Street on March 28 with two passengers.
He said police searched the vehicle and occupants.
Mr Fox said Crockett told police he had a knife under the driverâs seat.
He said police located two knives in a sheath under the seat.

A Coast man was found with a 40cm samurai sword-like knife just months before he inflicted “ghastly” injuries when he stabbed a friend in the face and leg.
Quinn Daoud was sentenced to 10 months in prison on Thursday after he pleaded guilty in Maroochydore District Court to 26 charges including three counts of possessing a knife, four counts of driving without a license and one count of unlawfully entering a vehicle to commit and indictable offence.
It comes after Daoud was sentenced to three years in prison on February 2 for one count of unlawful wounding another person on July 13 last year.
He returned a negative result for a blood alcohol reading, however police noted he was sweating and making jerky head movements.
The Cannonvale man admitted to taking what he called âgoeyâ, a street name for methamphetamine, and was arrested.
Denney claimed he did not admit to taking methamphetamine and instead told the court he took a âgooey-looking thingâ.
Magistrate James Morton slammed Denneyâs behaviour.
âYouâre a fool, youâre an absolute fool,â he said.
âDo you usually put gooey-looking things in your mouth if you donât know what they are?â
Denney was fined $300 for the knife-related charge with no conviction recorded.
