The Lamoille South school district has selected a new principal for Stowe High School and could name a new superintendent next week.
David Greenfield was appointed Tuesday as the next Stowe High principal, effective July 1. He will replace Gretchen Muller, who announced in December she accepted a job at Camelâs Hump Middle School, also starting July 1.
Greenfield is currently assistant principal at Indian Ridge Middle School in Davie, Fla.
âI want to be part of a community that works together for the greater good of its residents and students,â Greenfield said in a statement released Wednesday. âI have worked in the area of administration as well as guidance and counseling for 18 years and truly enjoy the ability to have a positive impact on each student I work with.â
She and Lamoille South business manager Andy Lundeen will appear before the Stowe Selectboard Monday, April 12.
Wrendâs planned visit didnât go over so well with school board members, some of whom sounded the alarm about the superintendent possibly going off-script without first consulting the board about her talking points, and some grumbling that her guest appearance takes away from her other school-related duties.
âIs it appropriate for our superintendent and business manager to go to one of our townâs select board meetings and present information that we as a board have not seen and discussed?â school board member Tiffany Donza, of Stowe, asked.

QUECHEE The third-ranked Mid Vermont Christian School girls basketball team quickly put to rest any upset concerns, opening Tuesday night with an 18-3 run en route to a 69-22 victory over 14th-seeded Richford to open the VPA Division IV playoffs.
Sydney Goodwin led the MVCS attack with 26 points, including 12 from the free-throw line. Rachel Horner-Richardson and Hayley Goodwin each had 18 points. The Eagles (8-2) built a 33-12 lead at halftime and scored 20 points in the third quarter to put the game on ice.
“We got off to a quick start and were able to take control early. We have typically started slow in past playoff games, so I was happy with our focus and effort tonight,” MVCS coach Chris Goodwin said.
