QUECHEE The third-ranked Mid Vermont Christian School girls basketball team quickly put to rest any upset concerns, opening Tuesday night with an 18-3 run en route to a 69-22 victory over 14th-seeded Richford to open the VPA Division IV playoffs.
Sydney Goodwin led the MVCS attack with 26 points, including 12 from the free-throw line. Rachel Horner-Richardson and Hayley Goodwin each had 18 points. The Eagles (8-2) built a 33-12 lead at halftime and scored 20 points in the third quarter to put the game on ice.
“We got off to a quick start and were able to take control early. We have typically started slow in past playoff games, so I was happy with our focus and effort tonight,” MVCS coach Chris Goodwin said.
