Rockhampton’s commercial development industry is absolutely booming post-COVID with works about to begin on countless projects.
Come five weeks time, there will be two new service stations under construction, joining the plethora of approved developments beginning. The Mobil service stations will be built by Sydney-based group, RCI Group, on Queen Elizabeth Drive and Albert Street.
The service stations are expected to take three to four months to complete and will employ around 10 staff each once open.
The Queen Elizabeth Drive facility is on the site of the Capricorn Caravan Centre.
The Northside service station will have eight fuel bowsers, a retail shop, water and air station and a dog wash.

UPDATE, 7.00pm: A number of juveniles who have caused a disturbance outside of Stockland Rockhampton are on the loose. A Queensland Police spokesman said they are looking through CCTV footage to try and identify the suspects. The suspects were involved in the incident on Yaamba Road at around 3.55pm on April 15. Suspects have then left through the bush, the police spokesman said.
UPDATE, 5.15pm: A number of juveniles have left a shopping centre just after police arrived in relation to a disturbance. A Queensland Police spokesman said they originally refused to leave, but have now gone across the road.

Stockland has partnered with creative agency VANDAL to bring a new Augmented Reality (AR) experience to eight of its retail centres across New South Wales and Queensland for the school holidays.
Customers at participating Stockland centres are encouraged to find five ‘magic objects’ in- centre and scan the corresponding QR codes to enter a prize draw for a chance to win a Stockland Gift Card. Select centres will also offer a range of instant prizes to customers who find all five magic objects, including free cinema passes and arcade cards.

Ghanda Clothing opened at Stockland Rockhampton in recent weeks, employing 10 new staff members.
Ghanda Clothing regional manager Talisa Quirk said a number of applications from a range of candidates were received for the positions.
Due to COVID-19, the recruitment process was a little different than usual and management interviews were held via Zoom and sales assistant interviews were conducted in person.
There is one store manager and nine casual sales assistants employed with room for more as the business grows.
