Loretta Lynn, née Loretta Webb, (born April 14, 1932, Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, U.S. died October 4, 2022, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee), American country music singer who was known as the “Queen of Country.” Loretta Webb was born in a coal miner’s shack. (Although she claimed 1935 as her birth year, various official documents indicate that she was born in 1932.) She married Oliver Lynn in January 1948 and bore the first of six children the next year.
