Magnolia School Board secretary Steven Souter recently received recognition from the Arkansas School Boards Association (ASBA).
During the regular board meeting on December 14, Superintendent John Ward presented Souter with a pin and a letter of recognition from ASBA for earning 25 hours of continuing education credit.
He was also recognized at the ASBA regional meeting held earlier this year.
The ASBA annually recognizes individuals and entire boards for their continuing education and acknowledges whole boards whose members have all attained specific training development levels.
Each year, they also award special recognition to one individual and two boards whose dedication and ethical service have made a positive and notable impact on the students in their districts.
Superintendent John Ward said the district would be continuing remote Fridays through the spring semester.
âThis has worked extremely well,â he said. âIt gives the teacher time to work more closely with kids who need help and gives them badly needed planning time.â
Ward added that he feels that giving the teachers more planning time allows them to be more effective teachers Monday through Thursday.
Ward also discussed an update and clarification of student/parent expectations for the High School and Freshman Academy. These are effective January 4, 2021.
There will be two options for instruction: traditional/on-site at Magnolia Freshman Academy or High School or virtual through Arch Ford Educational Co-op.
