FARGO A 44-year-old Fargo man will likely spend nearly three decades in prison for beating his friend to death with a plant stand more than a year ago in a Fargo apartment.
Darrell Clinton Peterson, no address, said he was sorry Monday, March 1, in Cass County District Court before Judge Steven McCollough sentenced him to 28 years in prison for killing 64-year-old Duane Darling.

On Thursday, Dec. 17, Cass County Judge Steven McCollough set the murder trial for Reng Zacharia Ayong, 22, to begin March 2. The seven-day trial will determine if Ayong is responsible for the May 12 shooting death of 39-year-old Anquine Lamont White of Fargo.
Ayong and Lee Arthur Fry Jr., 30, of Moorhead, face similar charges in connection to the alleged setup. The two men met with White and Darrell Lamont Simons, 29, so the latter two could buy meth, according to court documents.
