Simmons endorses Herkert for city clerk

ALTON Retired Alton Police Chief Jake Simmons has endorsed Dan Herkert for Alton City Clerk.
“Dan Herkert’s broad-based experience in both the public and private sectors will serve residents well in the city clerk’s office,” said Simmons. “His knowledge of government, educational background, and understanding of the state’s public records and open meetings laws will allow for a seamless transition in the clerk’s office.”
Alton City Clerk Mary Boulds is not seeking re-election. Vying for her position on the April 6 ballot are Herkert, Lori Bockhold, Cheryle L. Ingle and Steven Kimbrough Sr.

ALTON Steven Kimbrough, Sr., on Thursday launched his campaign for Alton City Clerk.
Born and raised in the community, he attended Alton public schools and obtained an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice at Lewis and Clark Community College.
Kimbrough has served area for more than 30 years in various capacities. He currently is chairman of the Alton Democratic Precinct Committeemen, serves on the Coalition of Concerned Citizens Executive Board, is an elder and pulpit chairman at Deliverance Temple Complex Church of God In Christ and is a former NAACP Executive Board member.
