Donors have made Christmas come early for the hamper campaign as a rush in the final final week has propelled donations above our goal.
In a year when people can use it most, donors have come through with record support for the Jerome Taylor Memorial/Whig-Standard Christmas Hampers of Hope Fund. The campaign total to date is just over $185,000, the largest total in the fundraiser’s history. We are so thrilled to be able to provide a food hamper gift card to more than 3,000 households in our community.

For many years, I have kept old clippings from The Kingston Whig-Standard during the annual Jerome Taylor Memorial/Whig-Standard Christmas Hampers of Hope Fund. At Taylor AutoMall, we have always had a special relationship with the Salvation Army as my Dad, Jerome Taylor, was a proud supporter for many, many years before his passing in November 2006. It has been important to me to carry on that tradition and even include my own kids in this charity so they can see up close both the great work done by many selfless, giving people, as well as the very real need for assistance for so many individuals and families.

With just two weeks until Christmas, the hamper campaign has now passed the halfway mark and is closing in on $100,000. We are still a long way from our $175,000 goal, but we are confident the community will respond and continue to show support for the campaign.
The pandemic has made for a particular challenging year for many in our community. Even though we cannot provide a hamper of food this year, the gift card equivalent will make a huge difference for more than 3,000 households in our community.
