Derek Chauvin s conviction comes almost exactly four months before the trial of J. Alexander Kueng, Tou Thao and Thomas Lane starts. It s scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 23.
Kueng and Lane were the first to respond to Cup Foods on May 25, 2020. Body camera footage shows how they removed George Floyd from an SUV and walked him over to a squad, struggling to get him into the vehicle. Tou Thao arrived on the scene with Derek Chauvin while that was ongoing.
As the minutes passed, the different camera angles captured the officers placing Floyd in the prone position, with Lane at his legs and Kueng at his back. Thao s attention appeared to alternate between the bystanders and the former officers.

2:30pm - In a Facebook post shortly after the verdict, Darnella Frazier - the young woman who filmed George Floyd s arrest and murder last May - shared her jubilation at Chauvin s conviction. I just cried so hard, she wrote. This last hour my heart was beating so fast, I was so anxious, anxiety bussing through the roof. George Floyd we did it!! Justice has been served.
Frazier was just 17 when she happened upon Floyd s arrest on May 25, 2020. She testified during Chauvin s trial, telling the court she wished she had been able to do more.

What happened to George Floyd was horrific, unmitigated, inexcusable, murderous police brutality.
But that is
not what happened in the two cases now being held up by the media, celebrities, teen magazines, activists, NBA players and even politicians as the next instances of police brutality and state sanctioned murder.
