Syracuse, N.Y. The Republican Party plans to compete in this year’s mayoral race, coming off one of its worst showings in city history. Some of the area’s most influential Republicans, though, are wary that a Republican candidate could spell doom for Mayor Ben Walsh and pave the way for a Democrat to retake City Hall.
