A man accused of threatening a female employee with a blood-stained needle in a bid to rob a fast-food restaurant must remain in custody, a judge ruled today.
Steven McCabe, 24, allegedly held the needle to the woman s neck and demanded money at a branch of Subway in south Belfast .
Police claimed he said to her: Do you want hepatitis, you b ?
McCabe, of Great Victoria Street in the city, was refused bail on charges of attempted robbery and possessing an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Belfast Magistrates Court heard he allegedly went into the restaurant on the Dublin Road in August last year and approached a woman behind the counter.
A MAN shot in an attempted murder was able to identify his attacker even though he was wearing a balaclava, a court has been told.
A detective constable told Ards Magistrates Court that North Lucas, who was shot in the leg and upper body on March 15, knew Stephen Dempsey from his eyes.
Dempsey (59), from the Monlough Road in Saintfield, is charged with attempted murder and possessing a firearm - a shotgun - with intent to endanger life.
