Different people would try to come to terms with it. It was an emotional deal. It started when two groups got into an altercation. Off duty cmpd officer Thomas Ferguson responded and said daequan westbrook pointed a gun at him. The officer shot and killed westbrook. Less than an hour before that, greer says he ran into officer ferguson. Small talk about football and the kids and merry christmas, you know, have a great day. He was shocked at the violent turn of events but grateful the officer and mall employees kept shoppers safe. Thankful and respectful of him for being able to be there and just heartbroken for the young man that was on the other side of it. Cmpd is still investigating this shooting. A parking lot around 11 20 last night. Gunfire was exchanged between two different cars. One person was shot in the arm but police are not sure of their condition this morning. Were asking if they have any suspects. Also the homeowners dog woke them up and helped them escape a fire at this home. Officials say an electrical miss function cause the the fire. Crews responded around 12 45 and found smoke coming from the home and a fire in the kitchen. Crews extinguished the fire in about ten minutes. By then it had caused about 10,000 in damage.
