PHILLIPSTON It was cold and foggy but above freezing as the Congregational Church of Phillipston held its worship service outdoors where everyone felt comfortable about gathering during this time of COVID-19. We are becoming more like the original Christians, who were without churches and steeples, the Rev. Stephanie Flynn said during the Dec. 13 service. These are blessings. Jesus did not have those luxuries. Thinking about Jesus preaching outside to his followers made us feel good about doing the same. In fact, fog is a low-lying cloud, and that gave the service a kind of heavenly feeling.

Did you ever read the quotation, The heart that gives, gathers by Hannah More? On the same thought as that, many years ago a Barre minister said, If you re feeling low, go out and do something nice for someone. It s so true. We feel good when we do something to make someone else feel good. When we give goodness, we gather goodness. The hearts of both the giver and receiver are touched.
