It went through many, many changes from being an actual station to a place where it was not so active and people may have been here sleeping on benches, using the building for shelter and finally, with world war ii, the station became the center of the world again with the servicemen coming back here and serving 200,000 people a day and significant alterations made in this magnificent hall to serve the men

Contra costa county firefighters have put out a blaze that destroyed several structures in achbt yough over the last hour. Sigh 7 hd was over crestwood drive. The fire started in vegetation along the Railroad Tracks and spread very quickly to homes and outbuildings nearby. The Fire Department says at least five structures were damaged. But the cause is still under investigation. In the north bay, heatherton street in san rafael was just reopened after a woman was hit and killed while crossing it just after 1 00 in front of the san rafael transit center. Police say a dump truck hit her while she was in the crosswalk. Witnesses say the victim was an elderly woman. San Francisco Police are trying to determine why a paratransit driver ran over and killed his own passenger today. The accident happened at geary and franklin in San Francisco.
