Fatty liver diseases (FLD) have become a significant health concern worldwide, affecting millions. The two most common types of FLD are non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and alcoholic-associated liver disease (ALD). NAFLD is associated with obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome, while ALD is caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
Recent study in Scientific Reports finds a link between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and a higher risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) among healthy Korean adults. The research suggests that NAFLD may contribute to a hypercoagulable state, increasing the risk of VTE.
