The Deception Pass Bridge on State Route 20 is back open after closing for several hours due to a semi-truck partially hanging off the edge of the bridge.
The roadway reopened just after 7 a.m. Wednesday. Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Heather Axtman said high winds appeared to be a factor in the incident.
The driver of the truck was able to get out of the truck and is uninjured.

A train derailed and caught fire in the Custer area Tuesday morning and residents and visitors within a half-mile were being evacuated, according to Whatcom County Public Works, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol.
The northbound train carrying crude oil derailed around 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the Custer area, according to Courtney Wallace, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesperson, and the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. It is a BNSF train and track, Wallace said.
The train derailed near the 7500 block of Portal Way, according to the sheriff’s office on Twitter. The sheriff’s office evacuated people within a half-mile of the derailment. Whatcom County officials were trying to determine what caused a northbound BNSF Railway train carrying crude oil to derail Tuesday morning in the Custer area, sparking a huge fire that prompted an evacuation for nearby residents in the vicinity, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the Custer area near the 7500 block of Portal Way, and officials closed Grandview Road at Portal Way and Main Street. Motorists were urged to avoid the area as crews worked to clean up the site and upright the train cars. The town of Custer is located just north of Bellingham near the Washington state and Canada border.
