weekend. the weekend warmer. tonight again 52. showers and thunderstorms. severe thunderstorm has been lifted. deadly twisters hit the south leaving hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed. at least three are dead after a tornado went through mississippi. it was all because of a band of severe weather stretching from missouri to the florida panhandle. reporter: the storms cut a wide path of destruction destroying homes and businesses, toppling trees and knocking downpour lines. one of the areas hardest hit yazu city in mississippi. the clouds darkened and rains hit. i heard the noise first. then you could just hear trees ripping and tearing and i mean we got in the closet. you know it sounded like the house was going to explode. you could i could hear the blinds inside moving but the windows were closed. reporter: a restaurant owner hid in his walk in freezer. it was horrible. it was just really bad. got in get in the freezer. walk in the freezer and
rain and wind swirling. i wept in the sanctuary, got on the pulpit table and the building fell around me. at least two died in alabama. that is because of the storms that hit there. it s a family s worst nightmare. a mother killed and baby in the hospital. linda so joins us live with details. reporter: a witness says she was crossing the street with her baby when hit with a pickup truck but made a split-second decision that may have saved the baby. baltimore county police say the mother was taken to shock trauma where she was pronounced dead. we re waiting to get an update on the baby s condition. robert craig witnessed the crash, said she was walking to the nearby shopping center, from the bus stop. she realized she was about to be hit and tried to get her baby to safety. from what i understand she was able to push the baby out of the way and was pinned under the truck. police haven t said if the driver of the pickup will be charged. we re hoping to get an update o
