Stamford College to extend Construction and Automotive Skills Centre thanks to £2 1m grant from Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership

 | Updated: 16:04, 15 March 2021 A construction and automotive skills facility at Stamford College is to be extended thanks to a £2.1m grant from the Getting Building Fund. The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership has confirmed funding of £2.129 million for the project, which will extend the Construction and Automotive Skills Centre at the college. The extension is a response to increased demand for skilled workers in the construction and engineering sectors and a substantial growth in applications from students for courses in these areas. Carpentry at Stamford College “We’re pleased to be able to fund this project, which will create opportunities for future students, meet the needs of local employers, address local and regional skills gaps and directly contribute to the local, regional and national economies,” said Sarah-Louise Fairburn, deputy chairman of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Oliver Greaves is hoping to clinch the title of Screwfix Trade Apprentice 2021after entering the competition for the second time. The 21-year-old from Bourne is studying towards an electrical maintenance qualification at Stamford College. Oliver Greaves He was selected for the competition after convincing the judges of his passion for the trade and determination to succeed. Oliver said: “I’m delighted to be in the semi-final of this competition. Last year I got through to the final and I hope to make it again so I can show the judges how much I have developed since then, the skills I have learnt and how dedicated I am to my career in the trade.
