In the 1980s, the Army launched an effort to field a single helicopter that could do the jobs of several other types that were parked in its hangars.
In the 1990s, that effort produced Boeing-Sikorsky s RAH-66 Comanche, but the stealthy Comanche was scrapped in the early 2000s, and even though it never got off the ground, elements of the program seem to have lived on.
