County Derry schools have been recognised for their exemplary efforts in the last year at the Families First Awards. Three schools secured overall winners award.

THE newly-appointed principal of Sacred Heart College will take up the role in April, it has been announced.
Drumquin man, Michael Gormley, is due to start at the Omagh post-primary school on Monday, April 12, just after the Easter holidays.
Mr Gormley’s appointment as Sacred Heart’s new principal was announced by the school on its Facebook page last Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the school said, “The whole college community looks forward to working with Mr Gormley in the delivery of an excellent education to our pupils.”
The Drumquin man has been principal of St Patrick’s College in Dungiven for the past number of years.
