THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Congress announced its list of candidates for the assembly election on Sunday after week-long discussions. The list, which according to KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran indicated a “generation shift”, was however greeted by protests in parts of the state.
Mahila Congress state president Lathika Subhash staged the most dramatic protest in front of KPCC headquarters here immediately after Ramachandran read out the candidates names in New Delhi. She got her head tonsured in protest against denial of seat to her. Lathika, who wanted to contest in Ettumanoor, also quit the president s post.
