Red Cross performs final rites for orphan, COVID victims in Andhra s Srikakulam ANI | Updated: May 27, 2021 23:10 IST Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 27 (ANI): Red Cross volunteers on Thursday performed final rites for an orphan and three Covid victims in Srikakulam. A 70-year-old orphan died in Srikakulam whom the Red Cross volunteers have been feeding for few days. Upon local police informing about his death, the volunteers took the body to the graveyard and performed final rites. They also performed the final rites of D Satyavati (82), R Sarojini (70), and R Ramana Murthy who died at RIMS Hospital with COVID-19 symptoms today. Over 40 countries have supplied COVID-19 related equipment and material to India through the Indian Red Cross Society amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the second wave of the pandemic, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on May 20.

The officers of Srikakulam district, bordering Odisha, are taking precautions to face any eventuality. Officials have made announcements about Cyclone already. Accordingly, the people of coastal villages were seen taking necessary precautions. Kalingapatnam coastal security police station s sub-inspector, B Balakrishna Rao said, Our police team had been visiting the coastal villages and alerting about the cyclone on a regular basis. Our Circle Inspector Govinda Rao, Sub Inspector Prasada Rao, I, and our staff are on alert. Total 40 policemen are present on duty. We are ready to tackle any urgency.

Cyclone Yaas: Andhra Chief Secy visits Srikakulam to review preparedness ANI | Updated: May 25, 2021 21:52 IST Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 25 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Adityanath Das on Tuesday visited Srikakulam district to review the arrangements made in view of the cyclone Yaas. The Chief Secretary attended the review meeting from Srikakulam through video conference and explained the situation in three districts. He said there is no major impact at present in the Srikakulam district except little rain and added that all higher officials are stationed in Srikakulam. The administration has arranged generators and diesel readily so that oxygen supply to COVID-19 patients in hospitals does not get interrupted, he added.
