Vitamin D aka the “sunshine vitamin” holds a special place in the vitamin world. While you can get your daily dose of vitamin D through diet – fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified milk are all common options – this is the only “vitamin” that your body can produce on its own through exposure to the sun. (This fun fact, among others, also makes it not technically a vitamin at all, but nevertheless, it is considered to be one of the four fat-soluble vitamins.)
