mud and seal it with cement ending the flow of oil we ve been watching on the spill cam now for several months. right. cannot come soon enough. okay. thank you for that update in venice, louisiana. reporter: sure. general david petraeus is calling for unity today in the effort to push back the taliban and stabilize the country. making his comments last night to resume command in afghanistan. let s bring in chief foreign correspondent richard engel. and with a good day to you. i know this is the general s first day on the ground since that big change-up in leadership. how does his person change the dynamic? reporter: well, he has been described many times as both a field commander, a general, and a diplomat. and it was today those diplomatic skills that were on display. this was a bit of political theater. there was an event at the u.s.
