Former Northampton nursing home gets high bid of $1.94M at auction

NORTHAMPTON A former nursing home building that has been vacant for years is set to have a new owner.
An auction for the property at 737 Bridge Road closed Wednesday afternoon brought a high bid of $1.94 million and the property is now in escrow, according to Spencer O’Donnell, an agent at commercial real estate company Colliers International who is working for the property owner.
O’Donnell said he couldn’t say who made the winning bid, but described the auction as “lively.”

NORTHAMPTON Northampton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on 737 Bridge Road, will be sold at auction next month, giving city planners hope that something will be done on a prime property left vacant since 2011.
“I hope something happens,” said Wayne Feiden, the city’s director of planning and sustainability. “It’s a great site for housing.”
The auction is online running April 5-7 with an opening bid of $800,000, according to auctioneers Ten-X.
