SCHOOL DISTRICT TO MOVE TO IN-SEAT LEARNING

An area school district’s administration has made a decision to move to in-seat learning. Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher says the Marshall Public Schools’ administration has monitored COVID numbers as published by the Saline County Health Department over the past 10 days. She says new cases in the county and community continue to decrease, and are at a 2.57 14-day average. As communicated previously, Marshall Public Schools is now announcing the transition to a modified Phase 2 of the MPS Returning to Learning Plan. All students may return to school on March 8 for four-day school weeks. Classes will meet on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday- with Wednesdays being reserved for individual or small-group learning, services for special needs and teacher collaboration. Parents may request distance learning for their child(ren) at individual buildings.

MARSHALL SCHOOL BOARD SCHEDULED TO MEET FOR SPECIAL SESSION

COUNCIL APPROVES BOTH READINGS OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO STOP PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF PART OF EAST SLATER STREET

There were three proposed parking ordinances discussed during the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, December 21. One of the ordinances states that there will be no parking allowed along the sides of a certain portion of East Slater Street. Ward 2 Councilman Chuck Hines said he is not in favor of having a no parking zone there. Ward 3 Councilman Charlie Guthrey said it is important to have something like this to keep traffic flowing, especially due to the presence of Spainhower Primary School and the prospect of another school being placed on the property formerly known as the Marshall Habilitation Center in the future.
