Celebrity by Jai Bednall 6th Apr 2021 11:48 AM LeBron James surprised his former Miami Heat teammate Dwyane Wade by paying homage to one of their most memorable moments on the basketball court together in Space Jam 2. James is starring in the remake of the 1996 classic children s film, which is scheduled for release in Australia on July 15. The trailer dropped over the weekend and NBA observers were quick to notice the recreation of James famous fast break dunk off a pass from Wade against the Milwaukee Bucks in 2010. In the film, it s Lola Bunny who passes the ball to James before spreading her arms wide like Wade did while winking at the camera.

Zendaya will star opposite LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, Jeff Bergman and Eric Bauza. Kath Soucie voiced Lola Bunny in the 1996 cult classic
Space Jam starring Michael Jordan.
The long-awaited sequel will follow James as he’s thrust into a digital space known as The Serververse, where he has his son taken away by an evil algorithm known as Al-G Rhythm (Cheadle). There, he ll team up with the Looney Tunes, competing in basketball against the algorithm’s Goon Squad, to get his son back.
Director Malcolm D. Lee wanted to make Lola Bunny a more “fully-realized” character this time. In the first movie, she’s played up as a cartoon sex symbol and romantic foil for Bugs Bunny. She’s also drawn rather provocatively for a movie geared towards kids. She’s not quite as sexualized as Jessica Rabbit, but she certainly doesn’t need short shorts and a crop top. Lee previously said:
“This is 2021. It’s important to reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters. She probably has the most human characteristics of the Tunes; she doesn’t have a thing like a carrot or a lisp or a stutter. So we reworked a lot of things, not only her look, like making sure she had an appropriate length on her shorts and was feminine without being objectified, but gave her a real voice. For us, it was, let’s ground her athletic prowess, her leadership skills, and make her as full a character as the others.”
