COAI: TP-Link, Deco, Netgear, and Google, and more, are the vendors selling their Wi-Fi 6E routers in India via platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Moglix, and others, according to the data presented by the Delhi-based telco industry association.
“In a significant gain for the telecom sector just before the interim budget, the current customs duty exemption granted to vessels engaged in laying submarine cables in India - which lapses on March 31, 2024 - was extended up to September 30, 2024,” SP Kochhar, Director General of COAI said.
The COAI white paper added that with digital convergence happening rapidly across sectors, especially with 5G, 5G+ and aspirations for a 6G future, even more bandwidth-heavy applications and services would emerge and drive up investments in network infrastructure, which telcos cant bear alone. “Thus, there is an unavoidable need for a fair-share mechanism that ensures equitable contributions from the entities benefitting from the burgeoning app economy,” the association said.
OTT Players: In the fifth generation or 5G network alone, Indian telcos are expected to spend as much as $75 billion until 2035, according to a study by Analysys Mason.
