again, including in boston. however, new york schools will open today. our coverage continues at accuweather with the latest from meteorologist jim dickey. good morning, jim. good morning, john and marci. dealing with yet another winter storm across the northeast today. this storm brought a foot or more across the midwest yesterday. now moving offshore. we ll see an area of heavy snow set up through the day. southern maine back into northeastern pennsylvania. for many, especially the major cities along the i-95 corridor, this will be a mixed event. it s bringing in relative warmth ahead of it and that will melt the snow as it falls. that will fall in the form of sleet. we re looking for significant freezing rain, especially across southern and central pennsylvania, across the mid-atlantic, make 8, 9 inches of wet snow earlier on this week. with that likely power outage as you put ice on top of that. ar an area of foot or more from new england into southern pa. back to you. here s
face some airline delays. flights are already delayed or canceled. meteorologist jim dickey has the latest from accuweather. good morning, jim. good morning, john and marci. tracking snowfall this morning. tough to believe as many spots across the northeast and mid-atlantic were in the 50s on sunday but colder air moved in late in the day. now a storm moving in. a mixed bag. all snow into philadelphia. in fact, expecting heavy snowfall. the pa turnpike into philadelphia area will be an absolute mess. expect delays and potential for accidents there. 6 to 12 inches of snow in southern pa, back into west virginia through the day. john and marci, back to you. jim dickey at accuweather, thank you for that. for a look at the rest of the nation s weather. we ll have isolated bands of showers that will hit atlanta and dallas as well as south florida. otherwise, the south and midwest will be dry. snow across the rockies in the west coast. there will be showers for seattle and los angele
maps showing a few showers including south texas. not going to be seeing that getting towards houston. want to take a look towards indy over the last couple hours, have had some reports of some light snow, a few areas towards fort knox reports that where you see the lighter blue color, that s some of the slightly more moderate snowfall. not picking up heavy snow from any of this. this is only a three hour loop. you can see good progress forwards the east, places like d.c., question mark, we actually get snow in there today. you re talking less than an inch but late this morning and early this afternoon, we ll get a little bit of that going on. look at temperatures, very borderline. even along some of the areas we re dealing with some of the snow now it s more of a kind of slushy wet snow sort of mix. it may be at least an issue on the roadways. talk about at least a few spots. this is the way to understand it s a mild event when talking a few areas on the map with winter weather adviso

incredible we re seeing a storm like this. this is the snow zone right now where the worst of the travel is. interstate 81 through northern virginia up through portion of maryland into southern pa, from hagerstown to altoona is getting heavy snow. state college, pennsylvania, where penn state will try to play a football game this afternoon, it is snowy hard right now. even just outside of pittsburgh, on interstate 70, unexpected, the notice is that far west but it s heavy there. morgantown northward is in the snow zone. as far as temperatures, you know where it s snowing the hardest, the blue circle, that s where it s below freezing. plenty warm in d.c., baltimore and philly and new york. that s why we re not worried about snow in those cities. you ll get a little on the back side, maybe a slushy inch or two but areas north and west much the big cities of the east coast that will get the bull s eye for this storm. let s talk about mid-atlantic region first. chesapeake, all-rain event f
