On Sunday, Dec. 27, Pastor Ron Fletcher will preach at Faith Lutheran Church in Kinston for the last time since arriving in August of 1977. He retires after serving at Faith for over 43 years.
Under his leadership, Faith Lutheran Church reached into the community and the region, establishing
a Help Fund/Food Pantry ministry and supporting local help groups like ICOR, Kinston’s Shelter for the Homeless, KARE, SAFE, and the Association for Congregations.
In Kinston, Ron volunteered as a hospital chaplain and served on various hospital boards for 42 years.
As part of the Southeastern District of LC-MS, Pastor Fletcher served a term as Circuit Visitor involving 13 churches from Durham to the coast. In 1965 he was vacancy pastor of newly chartered Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Greenville for six months, then Peace Lutheran Church in Goldsboro for fourteen months, then again in Greenville for two years, then again in Goldsboro for three years.
