What we have learned is that this person was trying to cross the lanes of westbound 580 just west of interstate 80 and that person was struck by several cars and ultimately was killed here at the scene. You can see all of the lanes of traffic are stopped no traffic is getting through. And ultimately trying to get over to the bridge here on westbound 580 chp is still investigating the corner can just a short time ago and removed the bodies of this person who was killed. This happened about 4 30 am and initially people called 911 to report what they had thought was a deer in the road. Officers arrived and they found the victim dead here at the scene. Chp says it appears that this person was a transient who is trying to cross the lane when they were hit by several cars. None of the drivers remained at the scene.
