Another case of COVID-19 has been connected to a school in the Halifax area.
This one is at Shannon Park Elementary in Dartmouth, which will be closed to students until Tuesday, April 27. A deep cleaning will take place and students will learn from home during the closure, it said in a news release. Families will receive an update before students return to school on Tuesday.
Public health officials are now in the process of tracking down close contacts and letting them know their next steps, which will include testing and self-isolation.
Because the result came in after the deadline for reporting case data, so it will be included in Thursday s daily case count.
HALIFAX Health officials in Nova Scotia are reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. One previously reported case is now considered recovered, as the active number of cases increases to 63. Eight of Monday s new cases were identified in the province s Central zone. Four are close contacts of previously reported cases, one of which was identified Sunday, April 18, at South Woodside Elementary School. Three cases are under investigation, one of which was identified on Sunday at St. Joseph s-Alexander McKay Elementary School. The other case is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada. Six of the new cases were identified in the province s Eastern zone. One is a close contact of a previously reported case and the others are related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada.
Fifteen New Cases of COVID-19
Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in Nova Scotia today, April 19.
Eight cases are in Central Zone. Four are close contacts of previously reported cases, one of which was identified Sunday, April 18, at South Woodside Elementary School. Three cases are under investigation, one of which was identified on Sunday at St. Joseph’s-Alexander McKay Elementary School. The other case is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada.
Six cases are in Eastern Zone. One is a close contact of a previously reported case and the others are related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada.

Plus some late-breaking school cases on a sucky COVID-19 Sunday. A deranged gunman started a murderous rampage in Portapique, Nova Scotia, on the night of April 18, 2020. That rampage ended with the gunman killed before noon on April 19, by the same RCMP he disguised himself as, after he murdered 22 people. Today marks the first anniversary of the massacre, a time that should be for quiet reflection and peace. Unfortunately, the coronavirus has a different agenda.
