Truck Stop Project Agreement To Aid Water System | News, Sports, Jobs

David Prenatt Representatives from Love Travel Stops and Country Stores have been frequent visitors to the Ripley Town Council for the past two years. Photo by David Prenatt RIPLEY Ripley town council members passed a resolution at their regular meeting recently to enter into a Host Community Agreement with Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores, which is intended to provide revenue for the water/sewer system. Doug Bowen, town supervisor, introduced the resolution to council members, saying that he had approached the Love Corporation and asked them to deviate from their regular practice of paying direct taxes. Instead, Bowen said, a Host Community Agreement with the town will allow tax revenue to be channeled into the water/sewer projects.

Solar Makes No Sense, But It Makes Money | News, Sports, Jobs

Utility scale solar installations make no sense in Western New York. The energy industry standard of energy efficiency is called “Energy Returned on Energy Invested “ (ERoEI). Consider the energy expended to manufacture, transport, install and decommission utility scale solar compared to the amount of electricity New York solar can produce. As Documented by Forbes Magazine, industrial solar at this latitude falls below the “economically viable threshold”. Industrial solar is rated at four compared to nuclear at 75 on a Forbes ERoEI graph showing energy produced related to energy invested. Why would policy makers encourage a project that uses more energy to build than it can produce in its lifetime?

Ripley Solar Questions Are Answered | News, Sports, Jobs

editorial@post-journal.com Residents of the town of Ripley had the opportunity to have many of their questions regarding the proposed South Ripley Solar and Storage Project answered at a virtual informational meeting held last week. According to representatives from ConnectGen, the public meeting was held to “provide information to stakeholders, understand stakeholder interests, identify any additional stakeholders potentially affected by the South Ripley Solar & Storage Project, and solicit information from stakeholders during public outreach events.” The webinar featured a host of experts who are involved with the project. The first part of the presentation covered several areas that will be part of the 94C application. 94C overhauls the state’s large-scale renewable siting process, replacing Article 10, which required solar projects to undergo a rigorous state permitting process.
