Jharkhand will have pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants at sadar hospitals in all the 24 districts.
Chief minister Hemant Soren during interaction with MPs and MLAs of North Chotanagpur region comprising districts of Chatra, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Giridih, Ramgarh, Bokaro and Dhanbad on Wednesday afternoon informed that decision has been taken for installation of PSA plants and oxygen banks at all the district sadar hospitals.
“We have taken a decision for installation of PSA plants and oxygen banks in all district Sadar Hospitals by the end of this year in order to overcome the oxygen crisis as oxygen will be supplied directly from the plant to the hospital. We want to be prepared for the third wave of the Covid-19. We have also got a team from Union government for making over 80 ventilators operational in different districts of the state by this month end,” said Soren.
Ranchi: The MPs and MLAs across South Chotanagpur and Kolhan divisions of Jharkhand on Tuesday suggested chief minister Hemant Soren and his government to turn their attention towards tackling the growing number of Covid-19 cases in rural areas.
Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, Lohardaga MP Sudarshan Bhagat, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto, social welfare minister Joba Manjhi, state transport minister Champai Soren flagged growing Covid-19 cases in the hamlets, rising deaths due to the viral infection and lack of awareness among the rural population.
Munda expressed concern over the lack of doctors in rural districts. “There is no infrastructure. And now, all the doctors have been deputed to hospitals in the cities. The 108 ambulance service is also not working. With deaths rising in villages, there is a chance of mass spread as village people lay their dead to rest with all the rituals,” he said.
Awareness campaign, speedy testing and vaccination will help check the spread of Covid-19 infection in rural areas of Jharkhand.
That was the general opinion expressed by the MPs and MLAs of the state during their three-day virtual meeting on the Covid situation that was initiated by chief minister Hemant Soren and began on Monday.
While the people’s representatives from Santhal Pargana and Palamau regions participated in the meeting on Monday, those from South Chotanagpur and Kolhan did so on Tuesday.
Others from North Chotanagpur region will attend the same on Wednesday.
