Ranchi: The MPs and MLAs across South Chotanagpur and Kolhan divisions of Jharkhand on Tuesday suggested chief minister Hemant Soren and his government to turn their attention towards tackling the growing number of Covid-19 cases in rural areas.
Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, Lohardaga MP Sudarshan Bhagat, Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto, social welfare minister Joba Manjhi, state transport minister Champai Soren flagged growing Covid-19 cases in the hamlets, rising deaths due to the viral infection and lack of awareness among the rural population.
Munda expressed concern over the lack of doctors in rural districts. “There is no infrastructure. And now, all the doctors have been deputed to hospitals in the cities. The 108 ambulance service is also not working. With deaths rising in villages, there is a chance of mass spread as village people lay their dead to rest with all the rituals,” he said.

New Delhi:
At least six people were killed and several others injured on Saturday night after a fire broke out in a house where a huge quantity of firecrackers were stored illegally in Jamshedpur’s East Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said.
The Ranchi railway division came under fire after it was announced that the Ranchi-Jaynagar Express will be extended up to Rourkela.
RANCHI: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth on Wednesday asked the South Eastern Railways (SER) to ensure that passengers from Ranchi can get bookings in the Rourkela-Jaynagar-Rourkela special train, which will begin its operations from Thursday.
Seth, who attended the annual divisional committee meeting of Ranchi and Chakradhapur divisions of SER in Rourkela along with Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto and Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda, also advocated the running of Kisan Rail to facilitate the vegetable sellers of Lohardaga and of other parts and the running of Rajdhani and Garib Rath express trains through the Lohardaga-Tori route.
JAMSHEDPUR: Even before a brick could be laid for the construction of an airport in Dhalbhumgarh, a section of villagers have opposed it, with the gram sabha of Devshol village holding a meeting on Sunday to oppose the government proposal to acquire 24 acre land for the construction, which may prove to be a boon for air connectivity between Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.
The airport will connect the industrial belt of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, Kharagpur in West Bengal and Balasore in Odisha, experts believe. The proposed site is quite close to NH-33 and has a railway station near it which makes it all the more accessible for all.
