India’s official count of 390,000 deaths from Covid may actually be a massive undercount, said several public health experts, according to a June 27 report in The Wall Street Journal. The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation modeling suggests the true Covid-19 death toll in India exceeds 1.1 million, close to three times the reported number.
