West Ham to Visit in Pre-Season

Town will play Premier League West Ham United in a pre-season friendly at Portman Road on Wednesday 16th July (KO 7.45pm).
The Hammers were last at Town ahead of the 2012/13 season with goals from Michael Chopra (pen), Luke Chambers and Jason Scotland seeing the Blues to a 3-1 victory.
The game could be one of two home friendlies this summer with manager Mick McCarthy keen to play a match at Portman Road the weekend prior to the start of the Championship campaign on Saturday 9th August.
The Blues play their opening friendly in Ireland against Shelbourne at Tolka Park, Dublin on Saturday 12th July with games at Colchester (Wednesday 23rd July) and Gillingham (Saturday 26th July, although not yet confirmed) also on the schedule.
Premier League Clubs Could Come Calling

Boss Mick McCarthy says there could be Premier League interest in a number of his players during the summer. Top scorer David McGoldrick, who could return to action following his knee ligament injury before the end of the campaign, and Aaron Cresswell have both been linked with top flight clubs this season.
Asked whether he thought 16-goal frontman McGoldrick might be targeted by Premier League clubs in the summer, McCarthy said: “Maybe, I don’t know. I suppose we’re at that time, Cressy, there’ll be a few of them.
Stadium and Pitch Inspection at 9am

Town have announced that there will be a stadium and pitch inspection at 9am tomorrow before a decision is made on whether the game against Barnsley goes ahead. The match is in doubt due to safety concerns with snow having fallen overnight and with more expected this evening.
A statement on the club site reads: Referee Nigel Miller will be taking a look at the Portman Road surface and warm-up areas as early as possible once the pitch covers have been removed. The stadium and access areas will also be checked for safety purposes before a decision is made on whether the game can go ahead.
McCarthy: Defensive Addition Could Be Loanee

Town boss Mick McCarthy will look to the loan market or for a player close to the end of his contract as he attempts to add to his defensive options during January.
Currently, the Blues manager has only his regular back four - Luke Chambers, Christophe Berra, Tommy Smith and Aaron Cresswell - plus Tyrone Mings at his disposal.
“We’re having a look,” McCarthy confirmed. “The difficulty is that we’re not going to buy anybody. Can we get anybody that’s coming out of contract [in the summer] or is on loan and are they better than the ones I’ve got?
