Town have no new injuries ahead of Saturday’s game against Mick McCarthy’s hometown club Barnsley at Portman Road, but the match is in doubt due to safety concerns with snow having fallen overnight and with more expected this evening.
Keeper Márton Fülöp says he s delighted that the Portman Road crowd is starting to take to his friend Tamás Priskin and named the striker as Saturday’s man of the match. Priskin, who scored his fourth goal of the season in the Carling Cup tie with Northampton, played an integral role in Jason Scotland’s opening goal against Millwall, then won the penalty which Grant Leadbitter converted in the second half.
Manager Mick McCarthy is confident that striker David McGoldrick will be “up for the fight” with Town, despite missing out on a move to Premier League Leicester. The Blues rebuffed bids which are understood to have reached the £7 million mark for the 26-year-old ahead of the closure of the transfer window yesterday.
