There has been a demand, among fans of a certain Louisiana-style pop-up restaurant working out of the kitchen at Zeitgeist Arts Cafe, to bring out the beignets.

Robert Lee, the southern-raised creative behind Gumbo Boi, is serving a one-day-only brunch as part of the upcoming offerings for Eat Downtown the Greater Downtown Council’s take on restaurant week and the French powder sugar covered donuts are on the menu alongside crepes, shrimp and grits, and po’boys.

I was driving home from work the other day when I noticed a sign in one of the windows near the station. I did some research and found out that the new spot will be opening - and soon!
The restaurant is called Doc Witherspoon s Soul Food Shack and according to the website for the spot, the plan is for it to open this month. The restaurant will serve made-from-scratch dishes like chicken, fish, burgers, sandwiches and dessert.

A popular bar and restaurant has won its battle to hold live music and comedy shows.
Mama Lizâs Soulfood Shack, in North Street, Stamford, was granted planning permission on Tuesday to use its basement area, known as the Voodoo Lounge, for live music and comedy.
