Kernersville, N.C. East Forsyth clinched its spot in next week’s 4A western regional championship softball game by earning an impressive home win on Friday.
The Eagles were catapulted by a four-run bottom of the third inning to their 6-1 victory over Mooresville. East Forsyth came into the postseason ranked No. 2 in the HighSchoolOT Top 25 West poll and Mooresville was tabbed at No. 25 after going unbeaten in league play.
The visiting Blue Devils gashed the opposition with two outs in the top of the first frame when junior Ellie Goins homered to deep left field on the second offering she saw from East junior pitcher Kierston Deal. That would be one of the few mistakes Deal made in the contest.
