particular challenges faced by women in the military. the shriver report, which details the financial struggles of millions of american women, found that women in the military face a higher risk of poverty and homelessness. it also found the unemployment rate for women veterans of the iraq and afghanistan wars is nearly 13%. that is higher than the 10% rate for male vets. and the 8% rate for female nonveterans. joining me now, sonya guerrero. she s an assistant professor of research at the university pittsburgh school of medicine. thank you so much for your time. thank you for having me. absolutely. you know, when i look at these numbers, it is stunning. we know that our vets face many struggles, but for women veterans, the thing that really hit my heart was that they face this guilt and they face a social stigma for leaving their children and spouses behind, far more than their male counterparts face. right.
