A FORMER president, current and erstwhile Cabinet ministers, judges, senior government officials, journalists and even an apartheid death squad commander were this week outed as beneficiaries of the State Security Agency’s (SSA’s) largesse this week.
Four witnesses laid bare the misappropriation of millions of rand from the SSA, largely to protect or at the behest of former president Jacob Zuma, at the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
The bulk of this week’s proceedings were taken by a secret witness only identified as “Ms K” for her safety.

The Zondo Commission of Inquiry into allegations of state capture continued to reveal troubling revelations at the State Security Agency (SSA) where three former ministers, a former ambassador and several senior officials were implicated in wrongdoing.
At the centre of the hearing into SSA related matters on Thursday, was the evidence given by ‘Miss K’ from an undisclosed location. K, whose identity is protected, is a member of the SSA’s Veza investigation team, which is involved in ongoing investigations of a sensitive nature.
Every time there is a media report of an assassination, the State Security Agency (SSA) officials in charge of the armoury pray it is not from a bullet fired from one of the firearms supposed to be under their control, testified Ms K (name withheld) before the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture on Friday.
It has a been a week of startling testimony before presiding Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, revealing to what extent national security was undermined by Zuma enablers such as former SSA Deputy Director-Generals Sonto Kudjoe, Thulani Dlomo (also ambassador to Japan), and former Director-General Arthur Fraser.
