Parents Sue West County School District Over High School Merger

April 23, 2021 Parents of the El Molino High School students are suing to keep the school from consolidating with Analy High School in Sebastopol. The suit claims that the West Sonoma County Union High School District did not meet the level of review for the state’s environmental law while proposing to merge the two schools. On top of that, El Molino residents have filed recall petitions for three board members who voted for the consolidation. It comes after the school board approved the merger, facing a $1 million per-year structural deficit and the failure of two recent tax measures that would’ve given the district more funds.
