But organizers are still keeping their eyes to the skies as the threat of rain and thunderstorms looms in the forecast, and Lubbockites are urged to monitor local media and social media for the latest updates on Saturday’s events.
As of Friday evening, Broadway Festivals organizers and volunteers were preparing the finishing touches on stages and equipment in Mackenzie Park, even as rain fell across the city.
The National Weather Service in Lubbock called for a 50 percent chance for additional showers and thunderstorms Friday evening and Saturday.

Organizers for Lubbock s 2021 4th on Broadway festival on Wednesday announced that Lise Davis, wife of hometown superstar Mac Davis, will be this year’s Sonic Parade grand marshal.
“Mac entertained thousands of West Texans and visitors at the 2009 4th on Broadway,” said Broadway Festivals president Don Caldwell. “His gracious participation in that event and other Lubbock Centennial activities are proof he always loved his hometown. We’re so happy to have Lise here to join us in celebrating Mac’s life, Lubbock heritage and love of America!”
Mac Davis died in September at age 78 following a more than 50-year career in music, television and the movies.
Lubbock s 4th on Broadway announces new parade route, concert updates
Organizers of the annual 4th on Broadway festival in Lubbock have announced a new route for the event s Sonic Parade that they hope will make the event safer and easier to attend.
Broadway Festivals. Inc. organizers also announced details about the two concerts planned ahead event, with the traditional La Raza on the Plaza and Country Kickoff concerts now taking place at Cook s Garage in south Lubbock County. Texas country music artist Aaron Lewis is set to perform, with other acts not yet announced. Over the years, in the beginning, the event started, it was all on Broadway and downtown Lubbock, and we have gradually moved the various elements of the festival down to Mackenzie park, said Don Caldwell, president and executive director of Broadway Festivals. This new change, we are moving the parade to the inside Mackenzie park this year.
