An old asian proverb says seeing with your own eyes is better than hearing a 1000 reports so in early 2013 my friend philip and i decided to visit north korea the 1st challenge lay in actually booking the trip. We normally plan our trips abroad ourselves but individual tourism doesnt exist in north korea even booking the entry into parts or arrangements are dealt with by a state agency. Before entering the country we had to sign a paper declaring that our visit had no journalistic purpose.
