HONIARA, Solomon Islands (January 18, 2002 – Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation/Solomon Star/PINA Nius Online) -Honiara s Central Hospital is unable to send human tissue samples overseas for tests because the chemical needed to accomplish this was stolen.
The chemical is a medical alcohol used to process tissues removed from patients at the hospital to determine the kind of sicknesses they have.
The 40 liters donated by sympathizers in Switzerland was taken during a burglary of the Medical Store.
In other developments: The tourism industry is urging the newly elected government to quickly restore law and order in Honiara to encourage more tourists to come into the country.

NAGOYA, Japan (SIBC, Mar. 23) – The Solomon Islands delegation to the opening of the 2005 World Expo in Japan arrived this morning in Nagoya - the host of the Expo.
The delegation is headed by the Minister of Commerce, Employment and Industries, Walton Naezon, and includes several senior officials from the Trade Division, the Investment Division and the Solomon Islands Expo Committee.
The 2005 World Expo will see about 120 countries from around the world take part, including 12 from the Pacific Islands Region.
Solomon Islands has a booth within the Pacific Pavillion. Three staff, from both the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau and the Trade Division had arrived ahead of the opening ceremony to set up displays within the Solomon Islands booth.
