Family, friends and fans of legendary Warriors Center Nate Thurmond are gathered right now to say goodbye. A Memorial Service for him is being held at San Franciscos Providence Baptist church. Former San Francisco mayor willie brown and warriors head coach steve kerr among those in attendance. Nate thurmond died on july 16th after a long battle with leukemia. He was 74 years old. Basketball fans across the country knew him as nate the great. He was just absolutely fantastic as a player. You know, when you replace wilt chamberlain, you know you really are somebody. Chamberlain was considered the best. Nate thurmond played 11 seasons of his 14year career with the warriors. Still holds the warriors record as alltime leading rebounder and one of only three nba players to ever have 40 rebounds in a single game. There may be more trouble for Oakland Raiders linebacker ali. He is eligible to be reinstated in november. Now the league is investigating whether he violated the protocols required of a player seeking reinstatement because of a video that shows an unidentified man and woman talking about a hand rolled cigarette. The video was archived in a periscope account that smith has used inside the last two months. Then just before 10 00 this morning smith appeared to comment about the case writing, good try. Not me. An Investigation Underway into a deadly crash involving a district cowboys team bus. This happened this morning about 30 miles north of kingman, arizona. No dallas players were on board the bus at the time. State troopers say it hit a van that made a left turn at a highway intersection in front of the bus. Four people in the van were killed. No one on the bus was hurt. The bus was heading to a fan event in las vegas. That event has been canceled. The most important thing is prayers and condolences to the family. You know, that transcends whatever we want to do as football fan clubs. Someone lost their lives. They lost cousins, brothers and everything. So thats more important. So we are upset about that. Las vegas is one of the eight stops the bus was set to make. It was on its way from irving, texas to oxnard, california. A man convicted of trying to help isis was sentenced to 15 years in prison today. 22yearold adam dandage was sentenced this morning. This last year he pleaded guilty to charges he planned to travel to sierra to help a terrorist group. He admitted to lying on his passport application so he could make that trip. His lawyers claim he had planned to go overseas to help a charity group. Increased security has been ordered at airports and train stations in germany after an explosion in the city killed a suspected bomber. Now isis is claiming responsibility for that attack. It happened yesterday just days after a shooting in munich. Kelly wright has more on what happened moments before the explosion. Reporter an explosion in a small german city is being called a deliberate act. The blast reportedly killing the suspected bomber and injuring about a dozen. The violence happening sunday in ansbach. We alerted the emergency workers of the open, who called further units. There were some people who thought they had been hit by parts because bricks had fallen from the roof. Reporter the suspect is being described as a 27year old syrian who had been denied asylum in germany. He was reportedly wearing a backpack when he entered a bar after he wasnt allowed into the Music Festival. The explosive device went off accidentally, according to police. The explosion did not occur in the event location, but in front of it. In front of the entrance. And so in that sense we are very pleased that no further people were injured by the explosion. Reporter witnesses say they were shocked after they heard the loud blast. I got myself together and wanted to see what had happened and if i could help. By then people started coming towards me. Away from the town center trying to get away. Reporter this attack comes after the shooting in munich on friday that left nine people dead. Thousands of people left flowers at a makeshift memorial outside at the scene on sunday. We have it all. All right. Thanks, rosemary. There are water concerns in the south bay after the Santa Clara Valley Water District announced that algae is affecting the water supply. High levels of algae are being found in the sacramento san joaquin delta. Last month the district said the algae was creating a strange taste and smell. However, the district does emphasize that the water is safe to drink, but also adds that it is getting Drinking Water from other reservoirs. Caltrain is replacing some trains to allow room for more passengers. Caltrain will now be using some six car trains. Caltrains said it will mostly effect trips to and from gilroy. The number of bikes allowed on the trains will stay the same. Scientists have been tracking a rare wolverine. They took these photos of the wolverine in the snow. They think its the same wolverine spot the in the area eight years ago. Before the sighting eight years ago scientists thought wolverines were extinct in the sierra. Still ahead, an uber driver accused of sexually assaulting a passenger over the weekend. The investigation into more possible victims and what uber users have to say about the incident. Plus, we are continuing to follow the latest on the deadly wildfire burning Southern California as officials announce more than 10,000 residents are under mandatory evacuations. Back now to the fire burning in Southern California. One person has died and a dozen homes have been destroyed. It is burning in the Santa Clarita area and charred 33,000 acres. Victoria joins us live with whats happening. Reporter more than 50 people spent the night here at this evacuation center. Were here at Hart High School in Santa Clarita. A lot of these residents are shy about coming here, but were gonna step out of the way so you can see whats going on behind us. This is one of three evacuations set up for victims of the sand fire. This has food, water, and beds for folks that need a good nights sleep. Right now 10,000 homes are under mandatory evacuation orders. That totals 20,000 residents. These homes are in the area of sand canyon, soledad canyon, and parson. Firefighters have asked residents who are in the line of the fire to be ready to evacuate at a moments notice. This massive fire started as a brushfire on friday, but quickly grew in size with hot and windy conditions. Its currently burning 33,000 acres and its threatened about 2,000 homes. Officials have said that two firefighters assigned to battling these flames have also lost their own homes. On saturday night a badly burned body of a man was found parked in a driveway. Officials are still trying to get into that area to finish their death investigation. Back out here live again this is one of three Evacuation Centers being run by the red cross, and they are encouraging anyone who needs a place to stay, a cool place to be and recover from this fire to come to one of these centers. They are open 24 7. We are live here in Santa Clarita. And victoria, i heard a fire official mention or describe this particular fire as a Freight Train the way it just moved so quickly. Of the evacuees you have had a chance to speak to, did any of them have a chance to grab belongings and put them in the car, or was it knock on the door, get in the car and go . Reporter most of them said they barely had time to grab anything. We talked to one man who actually lost his home. He said he left for the morning on saturday morning to go to work and a few hours later he found out that his home had burned. So its happening that fast for these people. So thats why Firefighters Want anyone in the line of the fire to be prepared to go at a moments notice so firefighters can get in and actually try to help save homes instead of worrying about evacuating people at the same time. All right. Thank you for that report. Firefighters from around the state continue to battle a wildfire burning in monterey county. The soberanes fire has burned nearly 15,000 acres. It is raging out of control south of carmel. The fire is just 5 contained. 20 homes have been destroyed. More than 1600 homes and other structures are still threatened. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered in five areas. People living in the nearby community of Carmel Highlands have been told to be ready to leave at a moments notice. The fire started friday near garrapata state park. The cause is under investigation. In just about an hour a former San Mateo Police officer accused of sexually assaulting five women is set to make his first court appearance. Noah winchester faces 22 felony charges including kidnapping, rape and making criminal threats. He allegedly targeted victims as young as 17 when were, quote, vulnerable and in isolated place. He worked with the community. An uber driver facing charges of sexually assaulting a passenger. Now police are looking to see if there are more victims out there. Ktvus Christien Kafton has more on the investigation and how women passengers feel getting into a car with a stranger. Reporter police have arrested that driver. They say he was arrested, booked into jail, and he has bonded out. We talked with female passengers and they say this is the exact reason they are concerned every time they get into a rideshare vehicle. It is a concern. I mean, i work at night and i take uber every, like every like three times a week, and its scary. With uber, you never know who can pick you up, you know . Just looking at a picture, it doesnt give you enough background on, like, who the person is or like, you know, where they live or something. At least have information about the person if an emergency comes up. Reporter on saturday afternoon East Palo Alto Police Arrested 59yearold Rodolf Vjerdha after a Woman Told Police he pressured her to sit next to him in the front seat on the way to her apartment on a ride friday evening. She says she overheard the driver calling the other passengers telling them he would not be picking them up. He locked the doors, touched her leg and kissed her during that ride. She demanded to be let out of the car but the driver refused to stop. Once she arrived at her home he asked to come up to her apartment but she refused. After several attempts to get out of the car she was able to get free and into her home. She called the police and officers arrested the suspect on saturday when he was back in the East Palo Alto area. East Palo Alto Police today say that they are investigating looking for the possibility of additional victims. The possibility of this driver victimizing another woman in the past that we dont know about is pretty high. Wed like to make sure there are no other victims. Uber says a these allegations are a clear violation of their guidelines and now that driver is banned. A vallejo family is looking for answers two months after a 15yearold was kidnapped and disappeared. Pearl pinson was last seen walking to Jesse Bethel High School when an armed man grabbed her. The next day the suspect was shot and killed in a shootout. Today her father said his family desperately needs any information about where pearl could be. Reporter we have a Family Gathering up here at the site where we last seen her at. We just wanted to keep her name out there. We dont know where she is at. The only person that knows is dead now. And tonight a prayer vigil is scheduled on the bridge where pearl was last seen. In Oakland Police are searching for a gunman who fired several shots at a Police Supervisor saturday night. That officer was driving an suv when she was involved in a collision at 73rd avenue and weld street. Moments later investigators say someone walked up to the suv and started shooting at the officer. She wasnt hit by the gunfire. One man we talked with said he heard the crash from his house. When i poked my head out, i saw the police car on the corner. It had hit the signal button. You hear a gunshot. I guess whoever the person was had shot at the Police Squad Car and took off running. The officer was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries from the crash. She was able to talk to investigators about what happened. So far a description of the shooter has not been released. Meanwhile, officers are investigating several other shootings claiming the lives of two men over the weekend. Police say at about 1 15 yesterday morning a man was shot and killed on holly street near 90th avenue and international. Then five minutes later another man was shot and killed on 7th street near market and the nimitz freeway. Police have not made any arrests in either shooting. Right there near the high street undercrossing of the nimitz freeway a sideshow was caught on video. This was the scene about 1 30 yesterday morning. The video was posted on social media. Cars were lined up on east 14th from high street to 98th avenue. The chp says it did not respond to the sideshow but hasnt explained why. Up to santa rosa where police are searching for three suspects blamed for a violent store robbery over the weekend. It happened saturday night at the cash for gift cards store on santa rosa avenue. Police say a gunman and two women walked in and demanded money from the clerk. The male suspect beat the worker with his gun. The three suspects ran off with cash and gift cards. The clerk was treated for serious head injuries. A driver slammed into a Senior Center this morning. It happened about 3 00 at the Margaret Todd Senior Center mere hill road and Indian Valley road. First responders found a man suffering from minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital. The Police Investigators say luckily no one else was inside. Were very fortunate that this happened in the middle of the night and not at 3 p. M. When there would be seniors here enjoying their Community Center and having events, including youth events at this facility as well. So far the extent of the damage is not known but the crash appears to have destroyed an office and a storage area. The driver was treated and booked at the marin county jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. East Bay High School students are rallying to support a teacher who needs a kidney transplant. They held a garage sale yesterday for marry testorico who teaches biotechnology at oakland tech and berkeley high. They describe her as a mentor, best friend and mother to all. She was diagnosed with stage five Chronic Kidney Disease and has a year to find and receive a transplant that will cost a half a million dollars. All the proceeds go to her kidney transplant. If she gets a living donor towards the expenses of them, too, because it cost a lot. Insurance only covers so. We want to make sure everybody has everything covered and nobody goes into debt. They have a gofundme page with a goal of 60,000. They are working on other fundraisers. Well, here we are less than two weeks away from the start of the summer olympics and rosemary rio.
